LAHORE (FNNI) Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here today paid a surprise visit to the site for the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute despite rain and reviewed progress on the construction work. He stayed at the site for two hours and inspected various parts of the institute. Praising the speedy work on the project, CM Shehbaz Sharif said he was pleased to see the speedy work on the project and speedy work has given him strength. He had an informal conversation with laborers working on the project and spent time with them. Addressing laborers, he said all laborers are working on the project of the national interest and their role will be remembered. He said he is pleased to see that work on the project continued round-the-clock and all laborers are working with diligence. The chief minister was given a briefing on the project.CM Punjab-4Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif also visited the under construction hepatitis clinic at the site for the institute. He said hepatitis clinic will be inaugurated during the current month and such clinics will also be established in other districts. The chief minister was given a comprehensive briefing on the site. Speaking on the occasion, CM Shehbaz Sharif said the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute is unique institute and this will be the state of the art institute in South Asia. He said poor and needy patients of kidney and liver will be provided free of the cost top quality medical treatment in the institute. He said work on the institute will be completed on the fast track and the first phase of the project will be completed during the current year and provision of the medical aid will be started. He said the Punjab government has provided all funds for the project and this institute will be made an independent trust. He said this institute will get a prominent place in the field of medical research and the best human resource will be recruited for this project. He directed the DG PHA to make the best landscaping of the project and make it the green project. He said the provision of the best quality medical aid is the responsibility of the government and billions of rupees are being spent on the health sector. Provincial Minister Khwaja Salman Rafique, Khwaja Imran Nazeer, Additional Chief Secretary, Chairman of Abraaj Group Health Fund Impact Committee Sir David Nicholson, members of a Korean company and concerning officials and experts were also present on the occasion.

The projects for providing modern and quality medical services are being continued bristly. State of the art hospitals have been established in different cities of the province.The different projects for the construction of hospitals across the province are under progress. The Chief Minister said that Recep Tayyip Erdogan hospital in Muzzafargarh is providing quality medical facilities to the patients and the Punjab government is working on the extension project of this hospital. The Chief Minister said that the construction work on the 100-bed modern hospital in Manawan is also fast going on. With the completion of this project, best and quality medical facilities would be provided to the residents of the locality. This hospital would be of high standards as far as construction and medical facilities and services are concerned. The Chief Minister gave instructions to select best doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff for this hospital. This 100-bed hospital is a gift by Punjab government to the masses of the locality, he added. The emergency services would also be provided in the hospital. The administration of Indus hospital has done a remarkable work by successfully providing quality medical services in Recep Tayyip Erdogan hospital Muzzafargarh and Bedian Road hospital. We all have to serve the woeful humanity and in this regard the work done by the management of Indus hospital is appreciable. Lahore (FNNI)  Punjab Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting here today which reviewed different matters regarding implementation of Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Pani Programme and took various important decisions for its implementation in future. The Chief Minister said that future strategy has been evolved for speedy implementation of Saaf Pani Project and now we have to jointly implement this project speedily.Chief Minister Punjab He said that program of the provision of clean drinking water will be started in 37 tehsils of South Punjab in the first phase and its scope will be expanded across the province in phases while non-functional water schemes would also be restored. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that now work is being carried out in right direction for implementation of a programme of provision of potable water. He said that this is an excellent public welfare programme, therefore, it should be forwarded as early as possible. Shehbaz Sharif said that each and every moment regarding the implementation of the program is precious and we have to compensate the time wasted in the past with hard work and determination. He directed Saaf Pani Company to select the best human resource on merit for its capacity-building and added that viable recommendations should be presented for the restoration of non-functional rural water schemes. He said that clean drinking water is the basic right of every citizen and Punjab government is working on this program to ensure that right. He said that the targets of Saaf Pani Programme have to be achieved within stipulated period and work will have to be carried out vigorously in this regard. He directed to keep in view future needs while implementing this program so that there should be room for further expansion. He said that clean drinking water is the life which is directly associated with human health and potable water is the basic need of every citizen. He said that provision of clean drinking water to people is the responsibility of the government which will be fulfilled at any cost. Shehbaz Sharif said that program of clean drinking water will have to be completed in the fixed period at all costs and move speedily towards achieving the goal. Shehbaz Sharif said that construction work on 100-bed modern hospital in Manawan is in progress speedily. He said that completion of this project will result in provision of diagnostic and quality medical facilities to the masses. He said that this hospital would be high-grade institution with regard to its construction, healthcare facilities and provision of other services. The Chief Minister said that best doctors, nurses and paramedical staff should be selected for this hospital and horticulture should also be done in the hospital. He said that more than one billion rupees were being spent on completion of health projects in BBH Rawalpindi and state of the art health delivery system had been introduced in local teaching hospitals besides provision of latest electro-medical equipment including MRI,    CT Scan, Dialysis, Lithotripsy, Orthopedic and Clinical Laboratory equipment. He also lauded the efforts and cooperation of Chairman BOG Dr. Muhammad Aslam for generating financial resources to extend maximum facilities to the patients and their attendants in local teaching hospitals. Muhammad Hanif Abbasi appreciated the keen interest of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Umar and officers of Provincial Building Department who had devoted themselves to complete the development schemes in the health sector. He further stated that work on Rawalpindi Institute of Urology has been accelerated and all resources were being mobilized to complete this 400-bed unique hospital in the region by the end of this year. He said that special focus would also be laid on the up gradation of DHQ hospital to overcome the shortfalls. He visited newly established skin department of BBH and appreciated the quality of work.

Later, the new department of PEDS ICU was also inaugurated in BBH. Talking on the occasion, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said that on the directions of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, modern medical treatment facilities were being provided in all departments of teaching hospitals with the objective to provide best health care facilities to the citizens of Rawalpindi.Dr. Muhammad Aslam also briefed about the efforts being made with the cooperation of BOG members and philanthropists for providing a free meal to the admitted patients and their attendants.
