FIO to resolve disputes of business community against insurance companies – Fnni.org

Islamabad (FNNI) M. Raeesuddin Paracha, Federal Insurance Ombudsman (FIO) has assured that his organization would resolve the genuine disputes of business community against the insurance companies to provide them speedy relief. He said this while addressing as the Chief Guest at a one-day awareness session on “Dispute Resolution Mechanism” organized by Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with FIO. He said FIO has provided monetary relief of Rs.410 million in 2016 to the aggrieved policyholders. He said that the gradual awareness about the role of FIO institution was yielding positive results as 120% more cases were lodged during the year 2015 as compared to the previous year while the number of the case had increased by 200% in 2016 compared to the previous year. Paracha added that presently FIO was offering its services in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad and added that more offices were being considered in other cities of the country to provide necessary relief to the aggrieved insurance policyholders.

Dilating upon the prime role of his organization, he said that FIO was addressing disputes of maladministration between Insurance Companies and its policyholders, adding that the mandate of the FIO was to provide free of cost and speedy resolution of grievances within 60 days. He said that in 80% of the cases, the verdict was given in favor of the complainants. He stressed that policyholders should carefully read the terms & conditions of insurance policies to avoid rejections of their claims. He briefed about the complaint filing procedure and other available facilities being provided by the FIO office. It was highlighted that the policyholders could file their complaint with FIO by hand, by courier, online or through email.

Speaking at the occasion, Khalid Iqbal Malik, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry appreciated the role of Federal Insurance Ombudsman in providing free of cost and speedy resolution of disputes of policyholders against the insurance companies. He said the existence of FIO institution has provided a sense of protection to the policyholders against the maladministration of insurance companies. He stressed that FIO should enhance its network by opening more offices in major cities of Pakistan so that maximum aggrieved policyholders could benefit from its services.

He said that ICCI would try to create more awareness about the positive role of FIO in business community so that maximum number of policyholders could take benefit of its services. Khalid Malik Senior Vice President ICCI and others also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the role of FIO in providing relief to aggrieved parties in their disputes against the insurance companies.

He said the provision of the standardized health facilities in hospitals is his prime objective and he will not relax till achieving this target. Health experts from Turkey briefed on the recommendations on the improvement in the healthcare system. Provincial ministers Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Ayesha Ghaous Pasha, Kh. Slaman Rafique, Kh. Electrification of 36 Tube wells in Rawalpindi city must be accomplished within stipulated time: Divisional Commissioner Azmat Mehmood – Fnni.org

  Rawalpindi (FNNI ) Commissioner Rawalpindi Azmat Mehmood has directed SE WAPDA and MD WASA to ensure completion of the process of electrifying tube wells in Rawalpindi city within prescribed time that is by the end of January 2017. He said that keeping in view the importance of agriculture in our economy, Punjab Government is taking incredible initiatives to facilitate farmers and electrification of tube wells is one of those practical steps been taken in this regard.

He said undoubtedly Punjab benefits from the largest canal irrigation system but due to malfunctioning of the distributive system and seasonal variation, tube-wells were and are concentrated in Punjab. Earlier,  most tube-wells installed were diesel-fueled who were more expensive to install and operate than electric tube-wells which led the Government to take some concrete steps for electrifying tube-wells and electrification of 43 tube-wells in under process in Rawalpindi city including NA 52, 54, 55, 56 and PP-06. Commissioner expressed his indignation over the delay and directed SE WAPDA to complete this process and report at earliest.MD WASA Raja Shaukat while briefing the participants about progress in this regard said that until now 4 tube-wells are provided with connection and are operating, 3 are under process and rest 36 to be electrified by January 31. He said that this electrification process will help farmers get needed amount of water in time for their crops without being affected by the change of weather patterns and will save the land getting barren. Meeting was attended by SE WAPDA, Managing Director WASA Raja Shaukat, ADC Tariq Basra and other concerned officers.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing the function, Chinese Consul General Yu Boren said that Punjab government has made unprecedented progress in achieving the targets of economic development under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. He said that development of infrastructure, education, health and other social sectors have resulted in raising the living standard of people of the province.

cm-punjabHe said that during his appointment here, he has observed unprecedented development in Punjab during the last two years and added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab has made rapid economic progress and people are benefitting from the fruits of development. He said that development projects are being speedily completed in the province and ongoing projects under CPEC are forwarded speedily. He said that speedy implementation of development projects is named “Punjab Speed” in China and the honor of Punjab Speed is the result of the untiring and outstanding performance of Shahbaz Sharif. He said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor reflects development vision of the leadership of both the countries. He said that lasting relation of friendship between Pakistan and China exists and a new era of economic relations of both the countries has ushered in. He thanked Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and Punjab government on extending cooperation in setting up of the Chinese consulate in Lahore. He said that he cannot forget his two years spent in Punjab and he is going back with pleasant memories. The love, sincerity, and cooperation of people of Pakistan especially Punjab will be remembered forever, he added. Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that today, we are participating in a farewell function held in the honor of our great and sincere friend Chinese Consul General Yu Boren. We are sad on the departure of our friend from here, however, satisfied and happy over his role for increasing Pak-China friendship and promoting economic cooperation of two countries. We also pray for his bright future, he added. Shahbaz Sharif said that Yu Boren has played an exemplary role in strengthening the relations of both the countries and transforming these ties into economic bonds. He said that we have succeeded in speedy implementation of power projects only due to the cooperation of Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan Sun Weidong and Chinese Consul General Yu Boren. He said that generation of 1320 megawatt electricity will be started from Sahiwal Coal Power Plant next year and this is the only project of the world which is being completed in a very short period. He said that Yu Boren has worked very hard for enhancing bilateral cooperation and that is why, both Pakistani and Chinese friends are sad on his going back from here. We are not only friends but brothers, he added. He said that Yu Boren has worked more than his duties for enhancing economic cooperation and we salute his determination and cooperation. He said that the journey of bilateral economic cooperation covered during his two years tenure has never been observed by him during his political career. He said that we will never forget him. He expressed good wishes for him and said that he is our friend and will remain friend forever. Shahbaz Sharif said that China has made an investment of 51 billion dollars in Pakistan under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and CPEC is part of “One Belt, One Road” vision of Chinese President Xi Jinping and a guarantee to Pakistan’s progress and prosperity. He said that there is a need to learn from this great vision and model of Chinese leadership. He said One Belt One Road is a proof to the fact that the countries come closer due to economic cooperation. He said that promotion of economic cooperation, elimination of poverty and reducing difficulties is only vision of prosperity and One Belt One Road is reflective of it. He said that due to the untiring hard work of Chinese leadership, China has become the second-biggest economic power of the world and the Chinese nation has also made the great achievement of bringing 700 million persons out of poverty. He said that China has made great progress due to solid economic policies, hard work and diplomacy of Chinese leadership. The Chief Minister said that he salutes this vision and sagacity of Chinese President and added that we also have to move forward by adopting the model of China. He said that Pak-China friendship is everlasting and China has extended full cooperation to Pakistan in launching mega projects. He said that despite legal challenges in Orange Line Metro Train Project, China has extended full cooperation, upon which, he is thankful to the Chinese leadership. Shahbaz Sharif said that despite a case of some places regarding cultural asset in Orange Line Metro Train Project is in the court, China has continued its cooperation. He said that historic investment package is an expression of full confidence by Chinese leadership in the government and leadership of Pakistan and a proof to love with the people of Pakistan. He said that Chinese leadership and government have reposed confidence in us and we will come up with their expectations and spare no effort in enhancing bilateral economic cooperation. He said that Pakistani players have outclassed West Indies by presenting excellent game in all the three matches. Shehbaz Sharif said that Babar Azam has played an important role in the victory of national team through hat trick of centuries and congratulated batsman Babar Azam on making continuous third century. He said that Captain Azher Ali has also scored century through best batting. He said that Pakistani players have succeeded in one-day matches after T20 through hard work and passion.

Talking about the developmental activities in the Province, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that despite of negative and disruptive political motives of opposition and misleading propaganda, the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League (N) has focused its attention on development and welfare oriented projects with the objectives to remove sense of deprivation of underprivileged areas. The Provincial Minister said that the historic projects of costing Rs.6.20 billion are under progress in Tehsil Kotli Sattian which would fulfill the basic needs of the people. Addressing to the participants, Hafiz Usman Abbasi said that under the directives of Prime Minister of Pakistan survey was being conducted for provision of sui gas to all areas of Tehsil Kotli Sattian, similarly, road construction would also be completed according to the required standard. He also mentioned the backwardness of hill area and said that present government spending huge amount to bring under developed areas at par with developed localities.
