Rawalpindi (FNNI) Member National Assembly Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry, Hanif Abbasi along with Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak reviewed the ongoing anti-encroachment operation across the city. The review meeting held at Commissioner Office Rawalpindi was attended by President Anjuman Tajraan Shahid Ghafoor Pracha, Sharjeel Mir, CTO Benish Khan, Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema, Assistant Commissioner City Hakim Khan, CO Municipal Corporation Imran Ali and other concerned officers.

Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry said that the anti-encroachment operation is the top priority of our government, which will be ensured with continuity to make it effective. He directed that this operation should be done in phase wise. In first phase, the road to be cleared and in the second phase the footpaths should be cleared likewise the rest of the operation will be completed. Hanif Abbasi said that the trader unions of each market should be taken on board in whichever market is intended to be operated. He further added that representatives of traders along with the administrative officers should do lane marking beyond which no one will be allowed to operate.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Rawalpindi directed Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi to ban the Juma Bazaar of vehicles on Murree Road, which not only causes traffic disruption but also poses to be a security risk for the residents of that area. He said that taking into account the suggestions given by the traders for the parking plaza, an assessment should be made immediately regarding improvement and construction of parking in the third floor of Fawara Chowk parking plaza and Metropolitan Plaza. Commissioner Rawalpindi said that due to encroachments, the problems of traffic jams intensifies which is inconvenient for the common people and also affects the business of the traders. Therefore, traders should support the administration to eliminate it in their markets and punish the shopkeepers involved in this practice. Commissioner Rawalpindi said that separate places will be allocated for the carts so that their business is not affected. He directed the concerned officers to work and identify such empty plots in the city which are under state ownership within three days so that the carts can be provided with a proper place to do their business there. Engineer Aamir Khattak said that we are not after anyone’s business. Infact we are after this rush and chaos which has  made the lives of our residents miserable.He said that no one can be allowed to occupy the right of way through encroachment in the main markets. He said that the encroachment has badly affected the life of Rawalpindi city, so there can be no relaxation or delay in it.
