Punjab Govt Starts Providing Relief to Citizens After Federal Govt Slashes Petrol Prices
Lahroe (FNNI) Ensure convenience of citizens by cracking down hard on over-charging transporters, said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif while directing the authorities concerned to get reduction in transport fares due to lowering oil prices implemented in Punjab. She said,”Full relief of reduction in petrol prices must reach every passenger, every citizen and every student.” She added,”The overcharged rent should be returned to the citizens.” She directed Provincial Transport Minister, Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Transport Authority officials and district administration officers to remain in field for strict checking.
Earlier, Madam Chief Minister was briefed by the relevant authorities,”After the announcement of reduction in transport fares by the Federal Government, the Punjab Government has also issued a new schedule of reduction in private transport fares for 37 cities.” She was apprised,”As directed, the transport fares for passengers have been reduced from Rs 40 to Rs 250.”
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was further briefed,”Vehicles in 41 cities of Punjab have been checked to learn about the fare collected from the passengers.” Ske was apprised,”Once again, Rs 105540 extra fare charged from the passengers has been returned, and Rs 358500 fine has been imposed on the over-charging transporters.”
Madam Chief Minister was also briefed,”30 vehicles have been stopped to operate, Niazi Express has been sealed and Rs 1.5 Lakh has been slapped in fine on Niazi 99 for not displaying fare list.” They said,”On the directive of Chief Minister Punjab, a helpline has also been made active for citizens' complaints and their redressal.
